What can Chiropractic Can Help With?

Back pain

Back pain is one of the most common reasons patients visit Symmetry Chiropractic in Ruddington and the surrounding Nottingham areas. It can develop gradually through posture, desk work, lifting, stress, or lifestyle factors, or it may appear suddenly after an awkward movement or strain.

Our approach focuses on identifying what is contributing to your pain and improving how your spine and body are moving overall. Many patients notice stiffness, reduced mobility, or recurring discomfort that affects daily life, work, or sleep. Chiropractic care aims to gently improve joint function, reduce tension, and support your body’s natural ability to move more comfortably.

Neck pain

Neck pain often develops from a combination of posture, screen use, stress, and long periods of sitting or driving. It may present as stiffness, aching, reduced range of movement, or discomfort that spreads into the shoulders or upper back. Some people also experience associated headaches.

At Symmetry Chiropractic, we assess how your neck, upper back, and shoulders are functioning together, as these areas are closely linked. Treatment is tailored to help improve mobility, reduce tension, and support better posture, so your neck can move more freely and comfortably in day-to-day life.

Sciatica

Sciatica is often described as pain that travels from the lower back or buttock down the leg, sometimes with tingling, numbness, or sharp discomfort. It is commonly caused by irritation or pressure affecting the sciatic nerve, and symptoms can vary in intensity from mild to very limiting.

Our focus is on identifying the underlying mechanical and functional contributors to the irritation and helping to improve movement and reduce pressure on affected areas. Many patients in Ruddington and Nottingham seek care when sciatica begins to interfere with walking, sitting, sleeping, or working comfortably.

Headaches, including tension headaches and migraine prevention

Many headaches are linked to tension in the neck, shoulders, and upper back, particularly in those who spend long hours sitting at a desk or under stress. These are often referred to as tension-type headaches and may present as a dull ache, pressure, or tight band-like sensation around the head.
While migraine is a more complex neurological condition, some patients find that reducing musculoskeletal tension and improving neck function can help reduce contributing triggers. At Symmetry Chiropractic, care is focused on improving movement and reducing strain in the areas commonly associated with headache patterns, supporting overall comfort and wellbeing.

Sports injuries

Sports injuries can range from sudden strains and sprains to gradual overuse issues that develop over time. Whether you run, cycle, train in the gym, or play recreational sport, repetitive load and impact can place stress on joints, muscles, and soft tissues.

Chiropractic care focuses on restoring movement, improving joint function, and supporting recovery so you can return to activity safely and confidently. Many active patients from Ruddington and the wider Nottingham area also use regular care to help maintain mobility and reduce the risk of recurring injuries.

Pregnancy-related pain

Pregnancy places significant changes on the body, particularly through the lower back, pelvis, and hips as posture and weight distribution adapt over time. This can lead to discomfort, stiffness, or difficulty with certain movements, especially in the later stages of pregnancy.

At Symmetry Chiropractic, care during pregnancy is always gentle, tailored, and adapted to each stage. Many expectant mothers choose chiropractic support to help with comfort, mobility, and day-to-day function, particularly when managing lower back or pelvic discomfort. Treatment is designed to be safe, supportive, and focused on helping you feel more comfortable as your body changes.

We are proud to serve Ruddington and the surrounding areas, including West Bridgford, Keyworth, Bunny, Bradmore, East Leake, Clifton, Tollerton, Wilford, Edwalton, Cotgrave

FAQs

Can chiropractic treatment help during pregnancy?

Chiropractic care can help support comfort and mobility throughout pregnancy, helping to reduce pain and ease movement. Using pregnancy-specific techniques tailored to you and your stage of pregnancy, treatment may also help relieve pelvic tension and improve overall comfort. Katie has extensive experience and specialist training in caring for pregnant patients, so you can feel confident you are in safe, qualified hands.

Can babies and children see a chiropractor?

Chiropractic means “done by hand,” and when working with babies and children, this approach is adapted to suit their age and stage of development. In infants, this may involve very gentle techniques such as light fingertip pressure, while older children and teenagers may receive equally gentle, age-appropriate adjustments.

Katie is a certified breastfeeding counsellor, and she combines this knowledge with her postgraduate training to support your baby’s early development and feeding journey. She has experience working with children of all ages, from newborns through to teenagers.

Recognising that children are not simply small adults, Katie has undertaken extensive postgraduate training in paediatric care and continues to build her knowledge of childhood conditions. This, alongside years of clinical experience, allows her to provide thoughtful, tailored care for young patients at every stage.

Can chiropractic help posture and desk-related back pain?

Chiropractic care can help with posture-related issues and desk-related back pain, which are often caused by long periods of sitting and repetitive strain on the spine and surrounding muscles.

Treatment focuses on improving joint mobility, easing muscle tension, and supporting better alignment so you can move and function more comfortably. Alongside hands-on care, advice on posture, workstation setup, and movement habits can also help reduce ongoing strain.

Katie takes a tailored approach, combining hands-on treatment with practical guidance to help reduce discomfort and support healthier posture during work and daily life.
